On my L3901--when it's not hooked up to anything, it slides right into pto. When I attach it to my Rhino brush hog (which I can turn the shaft by hand easy enough), I have to pull Hard on the lever to get it in. I don't have HST. Is this possibly a clutch issue? Also the tractor does not move forward when in gear until the pedal is in its last inch of travel--so the mechanic who checked things over 2 months ago is going to adjust clutch. I just saw a video on youtube that talks about adjusting the PTO as it is related to clutch pedal:
Unfortunately I think that the folks at my local Kubota dealership are not schooled on the matter--they told my mechanic that the PTO is altogether not related to the clutch... Pulling my hair out, feels like I have a boat anchor. Have owned this for 1 year--when I get it in gear, the tractor is an absolute animal, but that grinding will only make things worse I know, so I cannot use my tractor until this is resolved. I think what complicates this issue is that there are so many options--Pto levers as well as electric buttons to engage; different transmissions (Hydrostatic vs. standard); and different PTO systems (some work with clutch, some not). Having to rent a trailer to get it to a mechanic multiple times when we have not even used our tractor is killing the deal. My wife is done with it. I am tenacious and think I have lots of info now. Can someone put this together for us? Also--a mobile mechanic that Kubota sent out to us (we were told they later fired him) told us that it was the clutch--he pulled a cover plate and showed me some loose clutch material, looked like homespun graphite or something. So I took it to a reputable mechanic (without the Brush Hog) and he said he looked at the disc and the clutch looked fine. Sent it back home to me with me, only to find that it was the same. Help!
