Recent logging over winter has left me with stumps and slash to clear as the snow melts. The slash is tangled and somewhat embedded in dirt as the skidders compacted it tight. I have a mini ex for stumps but need advice on best way to clear slash. Thinking root grapple and york rake are the way to go. I'm looking at the Homestead Implements site for both. According to the website, their grapple is capable of lifting roots, boulders, logs. I have a box blade from them that is built like a tank. Wondering if anyone has experience with this company's grapple or if I should look at additional options from others? Thanks.

That's pretty much what I did at our old house and started to do here at the new one. After clearing out the stumps I was left a mess in the woods. There were plenty of vine like bushes with roots going everywhere, tree branches and a lot of New England potatoes.
I used my grapple to clean out everything easily accessible. The box blade rippers took care of the bushes that were overgrown everywhere. A second round with the grapple took care of everything that was left.

The box blade really smoothed things out and I spread the output of the chipper over everything. Ended up with a very nice area for the dogs to wander in.

I have the 55" Homestead root grapple, Pinnacle series. I have moved rocks, logs, etc. It is very well built, just like their box blade.

Hire someone that has a forestry mulcher on an excavator. They can probably remove the stumps also.

But I assume you want to do it yourself instead, but hiring it out is the best way to me after seeing how much work they get done in a short time.
