Rig Lizard Gloves from Hex Armor $35 - cut/puncture/impact resistant
The topic of gloves comes up from time to time. I bought these gloves to protect me from thorns and brambles, but they are much more than upgraded gardening gloves. First, they are surprisingly soft and flexible with very good dexterity and grip. Second, they are not heavy, hot gloves; they are much cooler than thick leather gloves (not as cool as thin fabric gloves). Third, the manufacturer's specification for their puncture/cut resistance is not hype; I dragged old but still sharp barbed wire out of a brush thicket without any damage to me or the gloves. As I fought the barbed wire for about 20 minutes, I was initially careful to grab the smooth sections of wire, but as the fight progressed I repeatedly grabbed the barbs and pulled with body weight to free the wire. In the end, I had removed about 30 feet of abandoned barb wire with no blood. (FWIW - I did not get the tractor and chains to remove the wire as the area was an inaccessible creek bank)
The gloves are very impressive. You could use them for many everyday tasks, but I prefer cooler fabric gloves with synthetic palms when this type of protection is not needed.
