Afternoon.
I was hoping someone can shed some light on my issue.
Yesterday my front tire clipped the return hose to the tank. I fixed the hose moved it out.of the way. Refilled the tank. This morning
while moving some dirt. The front bucket got hung up on a rock or root. While I rolled back the bucket I heard some squealing. Then total loss of hydrolics. I called my local shop. They figured I had air in the system, and to cycle the system to remove the air. I tried that and noticed the squealing. Called them back . I was told that its probably cavitating. Not to worry about it. But the noise got worse. When I looked under the pump I noticed the shaft was no longer spinning, and when it does it's that ugly squealing and it's is getting worse. I limped it back to the shop. Not sure where to go from here.
Thanks for your time.
Papafrog.

You're going to need to pull it apart and see what you need to fix.
Parts for these are long gone, so you might have to think outside the box to repair it.

First off fire that shop.

Sounds like the pump is toast. As NIW says you are looking at a custom repair. If the drive shaft is intact it should be inexpensive and easy.

Just to be 100% certain about this- you are talking about a front mount hydraulic pump that is driven off the front of the engine, is that correct?

The drive shaft isn't turning the pump, and if it is turning its making a god awful squealing. If Wolfman is right, I'm thinking , if I can remove the damaged stuff up front, and as long as everything eslse still works I could hook into the aux connections I have under the seat.

The sqealing noise makes me think the pump may be siezed.

You can dirch the front pump and run off the tractor hydraulics but flow will be reduced and dlow down loader. What sort of aux conmections do you have? The L185 is limited in that regard.

Yup. Exactly. I just don't how far in the damage is. I'm completely ignorant of the workings inside. I'm looking at exploded stuff to get a better idea of what to expect. I have more work than time . Which is why I bought the thing.
Thanks.

It sounds like the pump is seized. Remove pump, remove connection to it.Run tractor ,see if it's OK.
If so, you need need to replace the pump.

I ðo have a pair of quick connects under the seat. Like your saying. I didn't know that output will be reduced. Better than nothing I guess.

I don’t know what is going on with that block either. The female connection may be just a tank return. On my L185 that same cover has a port on the opposite side of the cover that is just an opening into the transmission. That is the hose with the 45 degree fittings.
@TheOldHokie made the block for the hydraulic takeoffs. The near side hose is power out to the valve the far side is the power return from the valve and the hose at the top is the tank return.

here is a thread that shows the fluid flow of the tractor before and after the adapter block (in post #1)

That block on his L185 is a diverter valve, I think automatic, but the other side might have a pull knob or lever.
It's set up as one output and no PB return (it's capped).
The tank return is behind it.

I dont understand "automatic". How would the 3pt get power when the outlet is in use?

The "auto" is just a guess, lack of info.
I would think it could work just like a proportioning valve on a steering circuit?
I fully expect you to tell me I'm wrong. ;)

I dont know whats right or wrong here :)

I dont see a "valve" so my gut intuition is its just a tee and you have to lock the 3pt to get pressure.

Is that a plug on the opposite side from the male connector?
Maybe it is the right block being used the wrong way?

Pretty sure this is a diverter valve of some kind, and the orange is a valve.
