I was wondering if anyone had used that on their trailer? It is a feature that came with the new truck. I was backing up to trailer doing the whole look from mirror to mirror and watching the rear camera when the wife asked why I wasn't using the trailer thingy.

I decided to give it a try and was actually surprised how simple it was to use. Hardest part was keeping my hands off the steering wheel and not touching the gas/brake. Just pressing the button and letting the truck back itself up to the hitch took a whole lot of faith for me.

Yet, it stopped a couple of inches away and had you confirm the height of the trailer and then you continue on with pressing the button and it drives the ball right under the hitch.

Told the wife she was now out of job, no longer needed her guidance. She was fine with that, because she said I never listen anyway.

I guess the next step is to take the time and setup up the trailer for the reverse guidance feature.

I don't have that feature on my 2013 F150 but the center line on the back up display and the zoom feature allows me to get dead on under the ball of the trailer. On mine when I get close with the black line lined up with the ball I can touch the top left of the screen to zoom in and eliminate the shading so I can see exactly where everything is.

I have it on my ford. I never used it in the way you are describing (for coupling), but tried it once reversing my boat trailer. I just use the rear camera.

I didn't like it at all. It took way too long backing up the trailer. The immediate thought in my head was that I'd get crucified at the boat ramp if I used it. Most boat ramp people are quite impatient. There are so many knuckleheads at the lake that can't maneuver a trailer (or boat for that matter).

My new F-450 has the Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance but I haven't used it yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it out soon.

Based on what I've read in the owner's manual and Quick Start Guide, one part is the assistance getting the hitch (ball) and coupler lined up for conventional pull trailers (doesn't work for gooseneck but there's a bed camera for that), and the other feature helps with steering (backing) the trailer once it's hooked up.

@Bmyers, what truck did you get? Is it a Ford? Just curious if every manufacturer offers their own take on this or whether it's all the same product but licensed to different manufacturers.

I have a back up camera on my truck. I can hit it first try 90% of the time.

I purchased a used 2023 F250 Lariat 6.7 HO. It is the short bed, came with the max towing package.

I don't tow much and do not consider myself an expert in towing or skilled. My nephew, he can tow and he amazes me how easy he makes it look. Although he is towing just about every weekend. When I tow, it is typical four or five times a year. Although, currently bidding on a dump trailer, which if we win that, I will be towing much more for some of the projects we have planned.

Now that there is some of the "funniest sh!t on Earth" to watch..... 🍻 🍻

Last year, I watched a guy try to back in his jet ski for 25 minutes.....constantly jack knifing, and getting cock-eyed.....His wife was trying guide him by yelling directions at him.....Classic stuff....you could see him getting visibly upset........

He eventually "sticks the landing", but the trailer was floating away with the jet ski.....hahahahahaha

He finally realizes that he forgot to untie the back of the jet ski from the trailer...OMG I WAS LAUGHING MY ASS OFF when he tried to "dive in" to untie it, instead of just pulling back out.......

To top it all off, his fat ass couldn't hold his breath for more than 3 seconds, so he had to get in his car, soaking wet, and pull it back out anyway......

Surely, I'm going to Hell for laughing as hard as I did/do....Good times!!!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:🍻

I used to anchor just outside the ramp area and watch the follies. It was pure comedy so long as you didn't get caught up in the fray.
