I have decided I want a used ZD331 or ZD1211 mower with a 60" deck.

I have no trailer, and I may have to rent one to get a mower to my house.

The specs for a 60" deck say it's about 73" wide with side discharge. That will not fit most rental trailers. Can someone tell me if it's possible to remove things and get the width down under 6 feet? I would guess there is a chute that comes off.

I'd ask the seller. May be as easy as taking a bungee cord to hold the discharge chute up.
I have the ZD421 53" and always run it in mulch mode without the chute. I live in the pacific NW and its real wet in spring and fall and never have problems mulching and the Zero turn just dissapears anything it mows. I ran the chute for 1 year and it was an absolute mess, spewing the grass all over the place and making the lawn look bad from the clippings. This may be your width solution!

Thanks for the help.

I didn't want to rent a U-Haul and find out the mower would not fit.
Be careful on the rental. U-Haul often puts a narrow gate opening on their trailers (for strength?) so you need to measure the opening before you rent one.

Other rental places will have more standard utility trailers with full width opening.

Rent a car trailer from U-Haul and it will fit with room to spare. Just make sure that it is tied down well. The straps that U-Haul provides only tie down the front wheels and that isn't enough in most jurisdictions.

Can't help on narrowing the mower, but maybe a wider trailer can be had at
