Hi,

I noticed today that an old F2100 mower that I own does not have a thermostat. It could have been removed many years ago, I have owned the machine almost 2 years now.

I have read many conflicting views on whether no thermostat will reduce cooling capacity.

In my instance, I live in the subtropics, and when I mow, the outside temperature is usually 30C or 86F minimum.

So not having a closed thermostat at startup, leading to overcooling, is not really an issue, where I live.

Do you think I need to install a thermostat, based on my location?

A thermostat will keep the engine running more consistently, but in this case and with that engine you're not hurting it in the least letting it run without a thermostat.
