Hello I have a 1988 L2550 GSL. I just found an engine oil leak that appears to be coming from what I would call the front driveshaft where it goes into the front differential. However upon closer inspection I believe it may be coming from above there and dripping down. Very hard to tell for sure as its so tight in there. Cantsee squat from above, all looks great from there

Does anyone have any ideas where to start with this I have some pictures to show as best I can what Im talking about. Thanks for any info you can provide.

If it's motor oil it's not leaking from the front drive case, that takes gear oil or hydraulic fluid and won't be black.

It's most likely the crank seal, but other possibilities would be a bad oil filter seal, a bad gear case seal (think timing chain cover), or bad oil pan seal.

Another possibility is that it's blow by coming out of the tube that comes off the valve cover, look on the left hand side on the front corner of the motor.
