Personalized plates are cheap up here at $25 when applying, and then $10 per year after that. If you don't opt for a personalized plate, you'll get a plate that starts with a number that indicates the county of registration. Displaying your county of residence can be problematic in MT since there's a perceived correlation between the county you live in, how much money you have and where you moved from. This can be more of a problem during hunting season when some are very protective of "their spot".

All that aside, I applied for a personalized plate yesterday (took all morning) for the new to me F-450 Super Duty. The plate background I like allows for seven characters so I put in for this, which is available.

TOW2TOW

I was considering some other options but this is what I chose, and as long as the MVD doesn't find it offensive, then it's good to go. The clerk asked me if I intended to use the truck in a commercial towing business, but I told her that I'm a boxer who likes to pull trailers and tractors around! 😂
Was to go Joe Calzaghe. 😉 😉

I collect license plates and have them on my shop wall.
I've not bought a vanity but think they are cool,

When growing up my mom had a 1958 Chevy Yeoman wagon with a plate that read 801NG
she called her car Boing

Somehow I doubt that one person's word against another would have much worth to law enforcement. My bet is they have better and more important things to handle...even if it is just coffee and a doughnut...LOL
Years ago it appeared that a PA State Trooper may have been willing to do that. I witnessed a guy weaving around and nearly hit an Amish kid walking near a one-room schoolhouse. I had the license number, but the cop lost interest when he asked me if I could ID the driver. Having only seen part of the back of his head I said "no".

My truck runs KUBOTA for now.
One car has my Navy job code 7212.
The other has the chemical formula for the color FE3O4.

My wife has the one my dad got in 1970 with my last name.

I have pile of license plates (no vanity) dating back to the early 1900s.
I should probably try to sell them on E-bay .

The F-450 plates showed up this week, and the local Kubota dealer had metal license plate frames for $10.50 each so I picked up a couple. Sure beats free advertising for the local Ford dealership.

My brother has POS WAGN on his 80' Pontiac wagon with a big block in it. Had the plate for like 5 years, then DMV decided to revoke it and sent him generic ones. He wrote a letter stating that POS was not short for something inappropriate, but really meant "Pontiacs Only Station Wagon," which was not as common as the Malibu wagon. DMV bought it and reissued his tags.

Scrolling the web a few years back, I saw someone had X32TTU8, and when viewed in a mirror, it's just funny. I was building a cheap down-and-dirty no-nonsense '93 Camaro street car with a 427 SBC in it, and gave it a shot with our local DMV, sure enough it worked. It was right comical coming up "behind" people in that car 😄
