Can the supply line inside the fuel tank of ZD326 mower be pulled out?

I'm told I need to check the supply line inside the fuel tank of my ZD326 mower for a debris clog. First I cannot tell which line on the tank is the supply versus the return. Looking at the tank selector switch is not helping (I do not know how the ports connect). So can I pull supply line out of the tank and if so which of the two is it?

It appears to be the front fitting on both tanks. (there is no documentation on it)
If you pull it out, pull straight up or you'll break the pick up tube off in the tank.
