I just took the rear transmission plate off to replace the seal and now I’m struggling to put the spring loaded cover back on. From what I can tell on the diagram it goes like this but when I get the locking pin into the pin there isn’t any thing left of the pin on the right to hold the cover on. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

Hair pin on the outside of the plate?

Couple more pic's from wider and different angles might help too.

I will try to get a better photo on my next break. when I put part 170 on and I get 160 pushed over enough to get the Hair pin in there isn't enough of 160 on the other side to hold the cover on. it's almost like 170 needs to push into a socket further but also it doesn't look like that's how it works.

Put the hair pin on it and then take pictures.
