BX1830 trans swap

My BIL is not very mechanical. He called and said his mower deck was making a noise and was not engaging. He just had the deck rebuilt by the dealer last year, so I knew it wasn't the deck. I went over and told him to start the tractor and engage the PTO. If it made a noise turn it off. It sounded like trying to cram a manual trans in gear without the clutch. He said the tractor would drive and the FEL worked. I told him something was major wrong with the PTO. Took it to the dealer and they said he ran the trans dry and burned up the PTO. Almost 7K to repair. Is there a source for rebuilt transmissions? What transmissions will swap with a BX1830D. I would assume since the 1830 was only made a couple years the same trans was probably used in subsequent 30 series machines? I tried looking for a parts 1830 but that's a narrow search. Is this the part he needs?

If it is the part he needs tell him to buy a new tractor, with a warranty and a maintenance plan.
Because to fix his with labor and everything he's going to be into it for $10K when he's done.
Not worth it!

Thanks, that's what another friend just said. The local dealer quoted 7K and he was bouncing back and forth about letting him do it. Another question? Would his loader and mower fit a newer BX?

Not very likely.

Bx1800 bx1830 bx2200 bx2230 bx22 and bx23 all use the same transmission. Bx1500 does as well but the hydrostat is different but you can bolt your hydrostat up to it. Having said that all of them are very hard to find and expensive. I have plenty of transmission parts but no complete transmissions right now.

Aa far as loader, no the la211 loader on the bx1830 will not work on a new model bx. It will however work on a bx1800 bx2200 and bx2230 if buying a used tractor is an option. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
