BX23D, BT600. When I attached the backhoe this time, all hydraulic rams on the backhoe and front end loader retract very slowly, but extend normally. Detached hydraulic lines, and the loader worked normally. Hooked up the backhoe again same problem. Cleaned hydraulic connectors, still not retracting with anything but glacial speed. Where should I look to find the problem?

I would suggest that you have a hose hooked up out of place. I would check that the hose that allows fluid back to the tractor is attached to the correct points. If so, then you may want to see if the disconnects are properly connected 100% of the way. If so you might want to swap the ends from a working connection to the backhoe to see if one half of the connection has a problem.

Explain how the loader works when the backhoe is connected, since you said it is fine without the backhoe.

Does the three point operate correctly when the backhoe is removed?

Connectors have been cleaned, look like they are properly closing. The hoses are different lengths, making it nearly impossible to hook them up backwards. And when the backhoe is disconnected, the three point and front end loader work fine.
When the backhoe is connected, the front end loader goes up fine, but down really slow, unless you put it in float, then it drops pretty fast. Again, extends fine, retracts painfully slow.
And there are only two hoses, which makes it more challenging to screw it up.

Sounds like it is something in the backhoe valve and the return line.

@TheOldHokie would be the best one to help you troubleshoot the issue.

You might check that all back hoe valve sticks are returning to neutral or manually move them to the center position, then see if the tractor is working.
