Try a 30mm socket.

That oughta be 30mm. 1-1/8 is about 28.5mm and 1-1/4 is 31.75mm. I'd be surprised to find a 29mm nut.

A 1-3/16 is only 0.006 larger than 30mm, it should work fine. If you can measure the nut. It's possible your socket is worn out but I wouldn't think something that big sees a lot of use.

I change probably hundreds of them per year and have always used a 1-3/16 socket! BTW proper torque and good belville washers are very important!

Deck or floor pan on L35 retained by 29-mm bolts.
Sunk down into holes sized juuuuuust right for proper socket.
Odd but occasionally used.

Yeah it was a zombie post but you know what, it was perfect timing for me, considering I'll be pulling the blades off the deck tomorrow. Thanks for the info (old as it may be) everyone! :D

Unless you tried the same cheap way I did….with a BETSTCO ”Farmers-Hand” finish mower….. you’ll find them to be a 14mm LEFT HAND THREAD 🤬 and a 24MM hex.

An impact quickly destroyed it…and Fastenal wants several Dollar$ Each…. and only sells them in bags of One-Hundred.

(It was on a weekend and I temporarily resolved it on ebarf…and ordered replacements from Betstco.)

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

Seriously? So, so, so disappointed that no one took advantage of this in 2013. I mean... I came here via Google search and was amazed to see the zombie post alive.

Skeets, I use the 1 3/16 on my 54" MMM deck blades under my BX. It fits just fine. I use breaker bar to remove and torque wrench to tighten to 75 ft/lbs. Haven't had any problems in 16 years of doing that.
