Hi Kubota BX owners. I have a 2006-vintage BX1850 and live in western Massachusetts. My BX is stored in a covered overhang alongside my horse trailer; protected from precipitation but exposed to wind/cold. Our winters routinely drop into the single digits and I've had issues with winter starting and battery life. I rigged my battery with a permanent battery maintainer connection and selected the NOCO Genius 5 as my charger/maintainer (based mostly on comments from the OTT forums). Well; no disappointment here. It does the job without issue. I leave it plugged in and the battery is exercised and ready-to-go always. I'm mainly impressed with the build-quality of the unit. Very compact, tightly sealed, and can take a hit. I've attached the small unit to my rollover bar and there it stays. Simply make your disconnects and start 'er up. I'd have no reservations about recommending this $90.00 product to other BX owners. If I have a negative, it's the quality of the wire connections between the main feed and the terminal clamps. These could be improved. Good luck.

I have been using them for the past 3 or 4 years, and like you said they are great. They will also give you a notice when the battery has a bad cell, by the charger going into a flashing LED. I have one on my whole house generator, and those batteries don't get exercised regularly. They also make a great jump pack. Like you, I live in New England, and we can't have a dead battery on our equipment when we need it the most. Just be careful not to be mislead, because even though the battery will accept a charge, its cold crankng amps deminishes with age. If you have to crank it too long, the battery will go dead.

Local stores up here want over $100 CDN for them...so, being somewhat handy, I make them for about $12. Not in a fancy case but does the same thing with a big plus.

I've used a battery tender since I bought my first motorcycle but this definately sounds like another good option.

I have three of those NOCO Genius maintainers - different varieties.

I use one on my boat year round - one is shared on the Kubotas and another in shop for other 12 batteries.
I had one go bad after a month - they replaced it quickly ! Good costumer service too.
The cost has gone way up over the last 5 years. I like how the computer chip sends a surge of current and then looks to see how the battery takes it - never had one overcharge a battery.
