B6000 PTO

Hey Everyone

I bought a B6000 a few months ago and was told when purchased that the PTO runs in opposite direction to normal tractors. I did some research and found you could buy a converter so it wasn’t so much of an issue.

I have now bought the converter. Upon fitting, my B6000 has a 10 spline shaft and not 18 that the converter needs. I should have checked before purchasing but assumed they all had 18 splines.

Is it possible to change the tractor shaft to 18 spline? If so, can someone advise the correct part number? I have been through the parts manual I have but can’t find anything relating to PTO or power take off.

I don't know if it's a 10 or 18 spline shaft.

You might be able to get an additional adapter to convert the tractor to the reverser. Another option is to see if the reverser can be can to match the tractor.

What vendor supplied the reverser? I think here in the USA they are difficult to find.

Most b6000 came with the 10 spline at least what's in the US anyway. Yes you can just swap the pto shaft for an 18 spline. Problem is going to be finding one.

You'd really be better off selling it and getting a b6100 or 7100. But if your stuck on keeping it you can swap the rear half of a b6100 onto your front half and resolve the issue. 2wd is simple swap 4wd is a little more involved with the front driveshaft I'm told.

Are you certain your pto runs in the opposite direction to North American ones?
I see you are living int the UK.
In North American you can find Gray Market (Japan market) machines and also North American B6000's.
I am suggesting you make certain you really have the backwards pto before you go too far.

Thanks for the replies everyone. So does anyone know if the B6000 had a 10 spline and the B6000e has an 18 spline? That would explain the 2 different parts in the diagram but need confirmation ideally! This is a real puzzle!

I've seen references to that as well and I can tell you I have b6000e in the yard now that have 10 spline and have had b6000d that had 10 spline. I have yet to personally see an 18 spline on a b6000 2wd or 4wd.

If I understand correctly the 18 spine units had a dedicated tiller unit that bolted directly to the tractor.

Well as you can tell I am new to this. My Kubota B6000e has a 10 spline pto shaft I just pickup a S850 Tiller that bolts to the back of the kubota looking at the tiller input it is a 18spline does anyone have a way I can make them fit. I would think I need to pull it apart and change parts out.
