I would like for someone to look at a TSB procedure and tell me what is involved.

There is quite a few on here, what do you need to know exactly?
TSB's are not secrets, your dealer should be able to tell you what they are too.

Actually they are marked:
Confidential and Proprietary
Do not distribute beyond authorized Kubota dealership
© Copyright Kubota Tractor Corporation, Grapevine, Texas

However a Kubota Corporate person told me about the one's for my tractor. My dealer acknowledged the one that applies to a problem I have and have it for repair right now. TSB-2023-044-E-R1

It involves replacing 3 valves in the transmission but my dealer claims it doesn't include draining the fluid. I am curious how that can be since the valves have o-rings on them to seal the fluid in. The TSB has a link in it to view the procedure but it requires a dealer log in.

This is my guess:
Because they are valves, pulling them to repair or replace them does not drain the fluid so the TSB does not have a provision to pay them to drain the fluid and refill it.

This is my guess:
AANND this is why I asked if there were any dealer people that could open the procedure in the TSB to see if that were the case or if the dealer was just saying that without looking at the procedure. When they told me that they were just looking at the printed TSB but the procedure is in a different document that wasn't in their hands. The parts guy at the dealer said IF it required draining the trans that Kubota would pay for it. It will come to light when they actually do the work but I was just being curious ahead of time.

Thanks for the "guess" though.

My Guesses are more insight but If any one of the Kubota techs on here wants to pipe in or send me a PM (some like stays anonymous) I'll pass the information on.

There are scammy dealers out there so shop around.

I had a recall done on my Yamaha motorcycle for a 2nd gear replacement. I had one dealer say they would charge me extra for a replacement oil and filter that Yamaha said was covered under the recall campaign.

It's the #3 plug that makes me wonder if it requires draining the fluid. On page 1 of the TSB there are links to Assembly Instructions on K-Service but you have to have a dealer log in to view those. IF the Kubota procedure says to drain the fluid then I shouldn't have to pay for that.

Perhaps they drain your fluid and then reuse the same fluid when the repair is completed?

I think your under the impression that, plug #1 is a drain plug, it's not it's a valve, and only a very small amount of fluid comes out when you take it out.
Even if it was a drain plug, a good tech can swap a plug and not loose but a spoon full of fluid.

Interesting, is there some place a person might find information on TSB recalls and such , other than the stealer that never seems to have time unless you are spending money ?

No sadly I'm pretty sure it's only dealer accessible.

If it's a safety recall they list those:

I just got mine back from the dealer and the TSB operation does seem to have fixed the issue I was having. The tractor would lurch forward or reverse when trying to start off gradually. Now I can move it in either direction smoothly. I can't find anything on MY transmission that resembles the pictures on page 3 of the TSB. Mine looks like it has two new plugs going straight up under the bottom that were wet with fluid but I can't find anything for the third valve. I wiped them clean and so far they don't seem to be leaking. The TSB labor allowance was 4.2 hours so there had to be a LOT more to it than the two new caps I can see.

I asked the service advisor at the dealer to look up the installation instructions and share them so maybe she will provide it on Monday. IF they drained and refilled the fluid they didn't document it specifically on the work order.

I did go ahead and purchase a new transmission and suction filter and changed the fluid. It wasn't due for either but I don't know if it had the old style or new fluid in it so I figured I would go ahead and make it all new to see if it made it any quieter. It may be a tad quieter under normal operation but with the cruise control set at max in medium range it still hits 103dB. That is another topic though. Not the focus of this TSB for jerky motion.

The service advisor did come through with the assembly instructions.

Access to the upper valves were under the cab floor which explains the new scratches in the tunnel area. Not a big deal. It was an $800+ service I didn't have to pay for.

It does require draining the transmission fluid. Surprisingly the instructions DO say to reuse the drained fluid. So now I know. Makes me feel better that I replaced the filters and fluid as soon as I returned home with it.

Glad you got it fixed. I had a Lx2610 that had the lurching problem. The scratches would bug me, as to me, shows a lack of quality workmanship.

Yeah the inside cover by the steering was covered in dirt from the mechanic rubbing against it and the bottom valves were wet with oil. I dried the oil off as soon as I loaded it on my trailer and so far it doesn't seem to be leaking. Hopefully it will remain dry and working properly.

The whole dealership environment was dusty and dirty as was the mechanic. I get dirty working on stuff too but I clean up after myself when I'm done.

I washed underneath as good as I could before I took it in because I didn't trust them to clean before taking it apart.
