Stop the Tractor: Bring the tractor to a complete stop on level ground. Engaging 4WD while moving can cause drivetrain damage due to the sudden change in traction distribution.
Depress the Clutch Pedal: Fully press the clutch pedal to disengage the transmission. This ensures no power is being sent to the wheels while you shift into 4WD.
Locate the 4WD Lever: On the Kubota L345 DT, the 4WD lever is typically found near the operator’s seat, often on the left side of the floorboard or behind the left foot. It may be a short, sturdy lever with markings indicating “2WD” and “4WD” positions. If unsure, check for a diagram or label near the lever showing a line connecting all four wheels for 4WD.
Shift to 4WD: With the clutch still depressed, move the lever to the “4WD” or “ON” position. On many Kubota models, pushing the lever down or forward engages 4WD, but confirm the direction by checking any nearby indicators or feeling for a slight resistance as it locks into place.
Release the Clutch: Slowly release the clutch pedal to engage the transmission. The tractor is now in 4WD, distributing power to both front and rear wheels for increased traction.
Verify Engagement: If your tractor has an indicator light on the dashboard, ensure it shows 4WD is active. Alternatively, test on soft ground (like dirt or grass) by moving slowly; you should notice the front wheels pulling alongside the rear. Avoid testing on hard surfaces like pavement, as 4WD can cause binding and wear during turns.
