I got tired of 1) Looking for a tree to rest my post hole digger up against when I'm not using it and 2) fighting to get it on the tractor when it is leaned up against said tree. Today, I decided to fix the problem and built a post hole digger stand. I found the basic design (upright posts with a removable beam) by searching the internet. Most people bury the posts in the ground which leads to a 'permanent' location for the stand. I took that basic idea but decided to mount everything on a homemade 'pallet' so I could move it with my forks if it's in the way, or I need to mow under it, etc. Anyways here is what I came up with.
If the digger is on the tractor you 1) back up to the stand 2) slide the horizontal beam out of the way on the stand 3) back up and slide the beam back through everything.
