There is also some kind of problem with freezing of breather, for which there is an update. How long have you had your tractor, and when you were in the woods did you see any lights to indicate it was time for a regeneration? If you look at your screen now, are you at 100% for the dpf?

Please let us know what it turns out to be, several of us have new tractors and need to know how to handle them in cold weather.

So sorry that your new tractor is not doing well. Two 3901's have had similar sounding problems, it has been brutally cold. Your dealer should make it right under warranty.

I think the thing that would first concern me is how the oil wound up on top of the cylinders in the first place. I would ask them if the cold weather fix kit, a mandatory campaign recall had been installed on your tractor before you got it or not. If it had not, that might help make sure that the problen doesn't happen again. If it was above freezing when it happened, or if you had the kit on already, then that points to some other problem besides the breather/ oil separator freezing as a source for the oil.

I have the impression that a runaway engine causes extra wear on the engine even if the push rods aren't bent. It might depend on how long it took for the computer to shut it down. Maybe some of the other guys can comment on this. And then there is the effect of all that smoking on the dpf/doc system. They ought to replace that too. You should feel satisfied that they have restored the tractor to new condition.
