Greetings, glad to have found this site. I have a 1982 L305DT that I have had for a few years. I was curious if anyone knew what the correct factory idle is supposed to be. Mine idles at about 1200 RPM. My tractor hours read 5523.

It's high, should be 800 to 850.

& simply adjusted at the screw..
If your going by your engine tach, they're notorious for being "off"..
If u set it by the tach & it sounds low, just set it to your liking..

Thanks for the info and replies. I always thought it seemed a bit on the high side. Glad I asked. Yes I was going by the engine tach. I will confirm with a electronic photo tach.

Turn it down as North Idaho Wolfman suggested. Just a tad above not running...and you'll be fine! There is no need for it to idle higher.
