One of the things I most enjoy about this tractor forum is seeing the creative solutions that members use to make/improve implements. With respect to snow management, I have progressed from snow shovel to walk-behind snow blower, but now I have a new tractor, and need/want to use it for snow removal.

A year or so ago, Gpreuss posted a nice approach to attaching a trail wheel to a rear-mounted blade. More recently, he posted an ambitious homemade front plow, using leftover steel from other projects. Inspired, I decided there must be lots of other designs posted on the web, and I did a little search. I found many neat designs, and thought I would post/reference a few that I found particularly interesting. Here are links to Gpreuss’ two that I mentioned:

Here is one where the fabricator used good imagination in figuring out how to shape his blade and ended up with a really nice plow:

Here is a really neat first “el cheapo” approach, posted on the Green Tractor Talk by Whito123. It may not last forever, but it sure will yield good design insights:

Here is an example of thinking big:

This is on a smaller scale, but clever. He started with a hot water tank to make his blade. I like the way he handled the blade trip. (Jayvee43)

Lastly, my alltime favorite. This will probably challenge the most creative fabricator amongst you. It also has the downside that it will seriously reduce seat time. Nonetheless, it is surely innovative. This is from a post by Oldtimer, on My Tractor Forum:

Thanks! I like the ROBOPLOW!! I just replaced my water heater - perhaps I'll do something with the old one - maybe a HD lawn roller, or something...
