My L35 developed a leak around the axle seal and is slowly dripping. It recommends in manual for sae 80 or 90 or udt fluid. My question is can you mix them? The other day I had no gear oil so I put in about 1.5l of udt fluid to topup the axle cause I needed to do some work. Is this ok or am I damaging it?

Thanks

The manual says to use udt or 80/90 weight so a mixture of the 2 should be fine until you get it repaired. If you are using udt, the 80 might eliminate the leak.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure its 80 or 90 thats in there now. I just needed it to work for a bit while I was at camp. I'll keep an eye on level and see how fast its leaking. Repair guys are very busy fixing farm machinery right now so not sure when I can get it in.

Had mine leak also. Had it repaired. They put 80 or 90 weight in afterwards. Later when it was time to change fluids I asked about putting super UDT back (did not want to stock two fluids if I did not have to) and how to get it clean so there was no mixing. The mechanic told me not to worry about it.

Excellent, thanks for the info. What leaked on yours where the hub connects to the axle? seems thats where its leaking down from. What did repair cost.

Yes, just a week or two over 3 years old, about 730 ish hours on it. Only real problem I have had. It’s been USED. Stump buckets, grapples and brush, 4 in 1 bucket and concrete removal, brush hog, discing, and lots of grade work.

Didn't they stop making the l35 in 2004? I'm not sure what year mine is. It supposedly had 400 hours on it but I don't believe it. Did you buy yours new?

That was the first repair I made on the new to me at the time L35, both sides were leaking and as mentioned it was a very simple job.
