Finally got some time today to fiddle with the BX2380 I bought last Saturday.

Neat little machine.:D

I picked up a quick hitch at Rural King and spent the day altering various attachments to work with it.

My questions thus far are:

1) Do all BX's shudder when shut down? Motor mounts seem very soft.
(not a complaint just an observation)

2) Is there an auxiliary power circuit hidden somewhere near the rear end
like there is on a L series? My operators manual doesn't show it.

3) Is there some rule of thumb regarding how much weight to hang on the
front to counter weight various implements? I'm still waiting on my
rack and suitcase weights. With my tiller on the quick hitch, I do
wheelies when I go forward. Kind of fun after the startle factor wore
off. Want to be able to steer yet keep the front footprint light enough
to not damage the yard.

my bx shakes when i shut it off. It helps to let it idle for a bit before shutting down. My bx2660 did this, and now my bx2380 does

I did notice a improvment when i switched to rotella 5w40 synthetic oil

2. no idea on power circuit? do you mean the cig plug? If so thats in your armrest by the cup holder

3 Weights on the front, i have hung (5) 70lbs suitcase weights on the front with no issues

right now i have 4 42lbs suitcase weights and 1 70lbs on the front with my 4 foot tiller on the back....still seems light on the front some times.

not sure on max capacity, but a few hundred doesnt seem to hurt it any

Frostbitten, thanks for the reply.

On my L, there were two unused wires taped up under the left fender that have 12 volts when the key is on. I've looked under both fenders of the BX and can find no such provisions. Wondering if maybe they hid it somewhere else.

1) Yes, and mine gives you a good shake when it starts as well.

2) As Frost mentioned, there is a 12v plug outlet in the little "tool" box on the fender. I don't know of any other source in the back.

3) Keep in mind, a BX FEL weighs about 500lbs, and can lift another 500-600lbs, so without a FEL, you could throw a good stack of weights on the front, if needed.

Not sure if the same as the 1880BX but there's a wiring harness taped up and hidden under the back fender right near the PTO. Three wires there. One is a ground, one is on a "keyed" circuit meaning it will only put out when the key is turned on and there's an "always hot" line there too. I wanted the ability to use my lights now and then for quick night projects without turning the tractor on so I wired my lights to that "always hot" line. Mine was stock on something like a 20A fuse and easily handled my lights.

Should be around here on the BX...may be different on yours. Mine was quite heavily wrapped up in blue tape by kubota or the dealer:

Tiktock, thanks much. I was looking under the fenders. I'll look between them this evening. I remember seeing some blue tape.

Dalola, mine shakes at startup too. Just not as violently as shut down.

Got home tonight in time to look for the elusive hidden power wires.

Just like Tiktock's 1880, there is wire loom crossing between the rear fenders just below and behind the seat. Just left of center was about three inches of loom wrapped with a bunch of blue tape. This tape covers and holds the extra wires to the loom.

Thanks again Tiktock!

Time to order switches, relays, lights...........:D

Glad they still provide that connection, marked with blue tape helps find it!
My BX2360 has it in the same spot, but with black tape, I had to fish around for it years ago!
Good luck moving forward!

3) only ~180 pounds but they help with the 42" brush cutter (380 pounds) hanging off the back.

B737, very interesting.

Are those the John Deere weights you can get at Lowes?

Do you have them hanging directly on the frame of the tractor?

Do they rattle around?

Yes they are the smallish JD ones. I think 45 pounds? Might be 40. You just shave off a little nub on the front and they will hang right on the frame without interference or hitting the engine shroud. I folded a microfiber over the bumper and they stay firmly without moving around. No tools, no brackets.

thats what i use.

They are 42lbs each. Mine are without j.d logo (thats a sin to have a j.d logo on a kubota LOL)

I have 11 of those, and 5 that look the same just bigger (they are 70lbs each)

They are great. I hang mine just like shown in that pic

I dont not use a microfiber towel, but thats a great idea. Never had mine rattle alot. You can fit 5 of those on the front weight rack if i remember right

Check your local c.l for them. They come up for sale every so often. Do not pay much more than a dollar a pound for them. Anything close to that or less is a great deal.

are they still JD if you paint them Kubota gray? sacrilegious i know....
i can only fit 4 of the 42 pounders. will the 70 pounders squeeze on the front frame??
i just didnt want to go through the hassle of the kubota weight rack, tools ect when switching to the snow blower, and FEL

My god I was actually helpful on this forum! I feel like a little mouse among elephants usually with my complete lack of experience and my tiny little 1880 :) Insane wealth of knowledge around here and people who take precious time out of their day to help others.
