I have a M4500 that I use for vineyard spraying. The hand lever that engages the PTO clutch for me is very easy to use. I never have to stop moving and go into neutral to engage the PTO.

With over 10,000 hours in this tractor I am now looking for a replacement.
Is there any other M series units that engage their PTO's the same way?

It seems from what I can see that most require pressing the foot transmission clutch pedal on the floor before engaging the PTO.

Any suggestions? I do want something with 60+ HP.

Both my M9's engage from the lever only. Has nothing ti do with the main shift at all.

10K hours, she's just broken in...lol

get yourself a used M9 hydraulic shuttle with low hours, I did for 18K. Now I have to and both are good. 82 pto horses btw.

So that lever actuates a separate clutch for the PTO?

Do any other newer tractors in the M series use such a lever?

So I went by my dealer yesterday and was told all the new tractors now use a push button system to engage the PTO. Some sort of solenoid set-up I guess. And it can be engaged while moving as long as the engine rpm's are lowered substantially.

Really like the looks of the M7060. Same size and weight as my old M4500 but 71hp not the old 55hp. Don't want a loader or cab so out the door for a rental return with 75 hours was $32,000. Things are pricey here in California!

A lot of the newer tractors, not just the M's, use push button PTO.

The push button activates a solenoid on a hydraulic valve to engage the PTO clutches. ;)

Yep, even my MX4800 uses the push-button PTO engagement.

My old 2002 Grand L 4310 used a lever but it was also electric over hydraulic and did not require clutching.

Does the push-button PTO engage abruptly or does it slowly ease in? How harsh is it?

When it engages for me, it will be under full load with the large orchard fan sprayer that I use on the grapes. Will that be a problem?

Instantaneous engagement would be tough on all the belts and the pump in the sprayer!

There is a small ramp up in the PTO grab, but it's fairly quick. ;)

It's smoothest to push (twist) the button at lower RPM, and then raise the RPM. However, even at full throttle it's still fairly smooth.
