MX5100 4wd with FEL , Hydrostatic drive

I in SE ohio , kind of a hilly area.
I'll have a 6' mower on 3pt hitch
Loader with some weight in it like stones etc
So I put the tractor in 2wheel drive when I have to run on asphalt road.
I'm in high range running close to PTO speed, pro disengaged of course.
full speed on the Hydro, petal to floor.
When I go uo some moderate to steeper hills the engine bogs down some depending on incline. Again in high range 2wd.
Is that sound normal? About 100 hours on tractor.

It's going to sound odd, but let up on the hst pedal a bit on the hills and see if it increases speed. ;)

I have essentially the same machine, just with less power (MX4800). Mine does the same thing. There just isn't enough power to move the weight of the machine up an incline at the speed you are calling for.

All HST machines are like this.

My Kubota is much smaller than yours, but I live in southern Indiana with similar terrain, and spend a lot of time on a hilly road between me and neighbors. I agree with the above that this is normal behavior.

If you think of the pedel as a gear shift with many speeds that shift higher as you push it down, lower as you ease up, it makes sense. Just like going up a hill in a truck it starts to slow down so you shift down a gear or two.
Muscle memory from driving a car makes you unconsciously think of it as an accelerator, it is not. It is a gear shift.

Once I realized these facts it made driving on the hiway much easier for me.
