I swear the older I get the dumber I get. Just spent 45 minutes cutting grass with the brakes on, had ear protection on so I didn’t hear the hst tranny screaming. I guess the tranny suffered a little extra wear

Join the club. When the guy brought my tractor we went through the basics and then he told me to take it over to the blade so we could practice changing FEL and blade with the SSQA. My first impression was "Man this thing has no power". Then I realized the brake was on.

B2601 got me good, was hauling large rocks on the pallet forks across the land, wondered why the heck she was pulling so hard, go figure, parking brake could not have been pushed down and set any harder

A nice feature on my 10 year old Polaris Ranger is when the parking brake is set, the engine is in limp mode until released. You're not going until you release it.

Everyone does it.
I gave up on using the parking brakes unless I absolutely have to, because i've dove around with it on too many times myself. Mine even has an indicator on the dash

Anyone who has never admitted doing anything stupid is either a liar or has never done anything. The first day I got my tractor I slid sideways into the ditch by the road. Tried to get out but just didn't have enough power. Ended up calling a tow truck. That night in bed I thought, you idiot! I had it in high range. And I was only 35 then.

I have left the brake on and I'm sure (positive) most, if not all Kubota owners have done the same.

Since doing that, the first thing I do when I get on the tractor is hit the brake pedal and then test the parking brake lever to make sure it's off. I rarely use the parking brake so I have to do something to make sure I release it when I do.

On the bright side at least the Kubota has brakes, you should have seen my 8Ns. Those babies had very little brake no matter what you did, I have stood up on the brake pedal with very little response in difficult situations. I do find myself not applying the parking brake on my Kubota most of the time, just ground the back blade and FEL/snow blade.

On my BX2370, whenever I set the brake, I set it on hard enough that if I try to move the tractor with it on, I can feel and hear the different HST whine right away. Their is no possible way to move the tractor with it on. Are you guys just setting the brake on very gently, therefore allowing the tractor to move ?

This is what I try to do as well. If you're in low 4x4 in mud/sand I've still moved a little bit before I noticed it because I expected resistance and was in low. I agree though 99% of the time this solves my forgetfulness.

I carry my 500 dollar chain saw in the bucket then dump it on the concrete floor when putting away my tractor. Even scooped a full bucket of gravel with that poor saw in the bucket

Been guilty of dumping tools on the floor too...but not the other. That doesn't sound like fun.

I added an idiot light to remind this idiot to release the brake. Used a leaf switch acting on the brake pedals. For the life of me I never understood why Kubota didn't equip all it's tractors with a bake on idiot light.

I doubt you hut the brakes or the HST. The brakes are wet brakes and the HST just worked a bit harder....

Except for heating up the hydraulic fluid, it probably didn't cause wear on anything, even the brakes are immersed.

My list of dumb stuff gets longer every day
