I have a middle spindle with play on my finishing mower. How do these come apart? I removed the blade and 2 bolts holding the bearing, but unsure how to separate it. I also removed the 2 small bolts on top of the pulley, that didn't seem to do anything. See pic of where I am currently

First, if you told us what the mower model number, or even what it’s hooked to would help.

Go to Kubota’s website, and find the area for illustrated parts lists. After agreeing to the legal stuff, enter your mowers model number.
It will help show how everything goes together.
If memory serves, there may be a snap ring in there somewhere, but don’t take that as gospel as they are different depending on model.

I have been looking at it but this one doesn't quite look like the diagram, it's a K348-7 but looking at B348-7.

I did remove the pulley, there is a small set screw I found, then used a puller to remove it. Now I have the shaft showing. I removed the key and collar around it. I don't want to damage it. Any idea how to remove the shaft? Does it get pushed from the bottom up or top down?

I managed to get all but the top bearing off. The bottom had no bearings, there was a set screw there too. Pulley helped remove the blade housing. It doesn't look like the shaft goes up, it's just too big to fit. I have banged on the top bearing quite a bit, it's not moving. Ideas welcome.

If all else fails cut the bearing off! ;)

Hmmm.... plasma time perhaps? ;)

I would still need to remove it from the shaft but easier done in a press.

Just hit it with the plasma on both sides just up to the shaft and it'll come off!

Success with the plasma, cut on one side and breaker bar.

I’ll have to look closer to see if those are cracks or scratches, I couldn’t tell.

Looking at the two bearings, it seems the inside is different on one, but the part # shows the same. Did Kubota have different bearings on top and bottom? I can take a pic if needed.

Figured it out. Pic shows the flange with no bearing (sits on bottom of the mower) along with the torched one (sits on top of the mower). The one that sits on the underside (bottom one in pic), the outer race is shown on the edge, and you can see the track the bearings go on (other pic). The inner race is still on the shaft so I will have to remove it. The black section with that encloses the bearings failed. I have ordered 2 new ones, so will fix when they arrive from Mcmaster.

Thanks.
