I am new to the forum and today my BX23S showed up in the driveway. Big step up from my shovel and rake. Lots of toys to play in the mud with all the time I have now that I am retired.

Nice!! Congrats on the new purchase. How many acres do you have? I see you are from Washington state. My daughter is currently living near Seattle. Love that area except for the traffic.

I am looking to move from a regular mower (T2380) to either a BX1870 or BX1880. I was told it would be about $1900 difference between setups FEL, 54" mower and residential snowblower. I tend to lean towards the new one just because it is new. Is it a no brainer to just get the 1880 instead of the 1870?

I have been waiting for the Kubota web site to get updated and did finally find this: http://www.kubota.com/Product/BX80/default.aspx

No build your own yet, however.

Thanks,
Jeff

Are you talking apples to apples between the 1880 and 1870? Meaning do both have the FEL, 54" mower and snowblower? If so, he is WAY off on the pricing differential.
On my BX2380 that I just purchased it was only supposed to be $800 more for the 80 series. Turns out that I ended up paying $50 LESS for the 80 series than the 70 series because I got two dealers working against each other. The one the I did buy from bent over backwards for me, but then again, my brother has done a LOT of business with him because my brother and his son own about 4000 acres.

Yes it was an 1870 vs 1880 price comparison.
My father-in-law owns the dealership and is doing the deal so that may play into pricing.
Thanks,
Jeff

I am 60 miles south of Seattle at the base of Mt Rainier. I only have 3/4 acre with more than half of it undeveloped, but now also doing things on mom's 5 acres since dad passed away 2 years ago. I recently retired so maybe I will pick up a little work here and there with it, but not looking to work for others too much, don't want to cut into fishing and hunting time too much.

I did get it a little bit dirty yesterday, but things are so wet I don't want to turn things into a huge mud bog.

Awesome!! (Except for your dad passing away, sorry to hear that. My brother passed away in October. He was only 59. It is like I lost my best friend. Just plain sucks.)

Not sure if you are into old cars, etc. but down in Hood River they have an incredible aviation and car museum. I was out there last September and took in 4 aviation museums. I am a retired pro pilot.

Yeah, once you retire, you don't want people messin' with your time, at least not for a while. Once you get used to it, then you can start doing things for other people.

Still seems like an awfully big difference between the two, esp. when I was quoted only $800 difference.
I do know, as you mentioned, that volume certain comes into play with the dealerships.
Are you sure you didn't make your father-in-law mad by marrying his daughter?:eek::D

Haha nice! My guess would be that dealers know how to play games with the retail price in order to make it look good for customers thinking about upgrading to the new series. I do not have the final numbers yet, I'll try to get them this weekend.

Just got my new BX2680 on Friday. LA344 loader, HD 55" Snowblower, Woods RC3.5 brush hog, and a LandPride 50" Roto Tiller. What a heck of a machine.

Yes the hydro filter is still underneath, but it's tucked way up high. Any other Qs I'm happy to answer.

The floor mat on my new 2380 is significantly different than Jhshlack's floor mat. Interesting..
