I had to DIG all of mine out, most 4 plus feet on all sides even to get them to move.
Here is a pair of them, I had to dig out 20 some of these to clear for a new road, took a little work to get them done but it was worth it!
Most were Tamarack's (LARCH), a couple Ponderosa Pines, and a few Cotton woods.
I have another whole acre field that is covered in 2-6" stumps from loge pole pine, I'm making a stump puller to deal with those next spring.
This one is 4 1/2' tall
This one is 6 foot tall and 1/2 the size of a VW bug, estimate 1500lbs

Oh I wish my tree stumps were that easy to remove! Here's a few pictures. I pulled two large stumps tonight just before dark. Ones a cedar and ones a poplar. By pulled of course I am referring to using the grapple. It "digs" under the root ball beautifully. Then, when you feel you have enough of the roots broke, simply pull up to the stump with grapple open, push the bottom teeth into the stump, close grapple, and. "Pop"!
