U17 mini excavator - the good, the bad?

Actually we often have the vineyard owners go down in the cut to show them the stratification of their soils. For them it's quite interesting to see all those layers at one time.

U17 mini excavator - the good, the bad?

Thanks for the input. At 5'7" wide the U35 would be too wide for many of the vine rows we work in. So the extra 5 hp. from the U27 to the U35 would make that much difference? We don't do long trenches just inspection pits to check soil make-up. Renting beforehand is a great idea but nobody...

U17 mini excavator - the good, the bad?

We are looking at mini excavators for soil sampling jobs in vineyards. Does anyone have any opinions? Just need to dig down usually no more than 6' , but vine rows can be 5' apart so the unit needs to be narrow at times. Also the U17 only weighs 3703 pounds so it would trailer easily. Any...

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

Just use any good grease to keep the joint lubed. Don't bother stripping and cleaning. Not necessary.

Why <1% Moly spec for Kubota recommended grease?

Never heard u-joint needle bearings referred to as high speed bearings. If you think about it, they hardly move much at all when the joint is spinning. Under load, yes, but spinning, not much. The fact that the u-joint is spinning fast does not mean the needle bearings are. No need to clean...

    HELP -Noisy PTO engagement?

Actually the 300 gallon pull fan sprayer unit is driven by a drive shaft turning numerous belts to drive the twin piston pump, agitator and fan. Universal joints are good. The rattle definitely appears to come from the tractor.

    HELP -Noisy PTO engagement?

Maybe I should experiment with finding out at what PTO speed engagement would be the quietest? Kind of contradicts easing it in slowly though.............. And higher PTO speeds would be tough on the numerous belts in my sprayer.

    HELP -Noisy PTO engagement?

Just took delivery this week of my new M7060 HD12 and spent 6 hours each of the last 2 nights spraying our vineyard. Very sweet ride but I have a question. When I engage the PTO at idle as I'm moving along I seem to hear a bit of a rattle, not from the sprayer itself though. If I increase...

    M4500 PTO clutch lever

Does the push-button PTO engage abruptly or does it slowly ease in? How harsh is it? When it engages for me, it will be under full load with the large orchard fan sprayer that I use on the grapes. Will that be a problem? Instantaneous engagement would be tough on all the belts and the pump in...

    M4500 PTO clutch lever

So I went by my dealer yesterday and was told all the new tractors now use a push button system to engage the PTO. Some sort of solenoid set-up I guess. And it can be engaged while moving as long as the engine rpm's are lowered substantially. Really like the looks of the M7060. Same size and...

    M4500 PTO clutch lever

So that lever actuates a separate clutch for the PTO? Do any other newer tractors in the M series use such a lever?

    M4500 PTO clutch lever

I have a M4500 that I use for vineyard spraying. The hand lever that engages the PTO clutch for me is very easy to use. I never have to stop moving and go into neutral to engage the PTO. With over 10,000 hours in this tractor I am now looking for a replacement. Is there any other M series units...
