Novice here , I am assuming the whole in the bottom right of the picture should have a bung in it. I have an oil leek and upon investigation I discovered this and I don’t want to put a plug in only to find it should be clear .I also made the assumption this is the gear box as its is on the back of the engine .

It is open to allow any water or oil to escape. Plug it and soon you will have a contaminated clutch.
It is the bell housing covering the clutch. The oil could be coming from the rear engine seal or the front transmission seal. A small amount, I would just accept it.

Thank you , glad I asked . I have checked the two dip sticks I can find and both are full, seemed a lot of oil but I guess a little can go a long way .
