Looking at Amazons Nilight 18W flood light for a rear work light on L2501. I'd like to install an internal on/off switch to the pod and wire to the left tail light directly w/o external/additional wiring for a remote switch. I'm sure I can source a weather proof switch, I just don't know if there is enough room inside the light for it to fit. Has anyone examined one of these to see if this is possible? The 18W should be fine w/o extra fuse as it's probably drawing less than 2 amps.

I have searched for a light with an intergal on/off switch and only ones I'm finding are expensive high end lights ($100+).

Tks...

not sure why you are going that route...I used a nilight kit and fed it directly from the battery. Easy-peasy.

Get small junction box
Mount light to junction box
Install switch on junction box
Mount junction box to where you want the light to be
Use waterproof cord grip to route the power cable out to the power source

I'm an old fashion guy that likes simple. Instead of running wires around to the battery and mounting switches and such in my way I have choosen to wire to the hot wire under the left fender with the switch built in to the light proper. Only ones I've come across with the integral switch are Artillian and they are kind of proud of them according to their price. I'm sure they are great lights but I not only like simple, I like inexpensive. If anyone knows of a decent ROPS work light with an integral switch I would appreciate it.

I had a similar situation. I bought four lights on sale at TSC to use for front/rear work lights. After thinking about switches, I decided individual switches on each light would work best. With them mounted on the FOP, I can reach each one while seated.

I couldn't even get into the things to mount the switches! I think there's room, but when I removed the bezel, the reflector was bonded to the rear case. I was afraid of ruining the light if I went further, so I ended up making some sheet metal brackets to mount the switches and running the wiring externally. It doesn't look like much, but surprisingly I haven't pulled anything loose yet. And they're right under the canopy so they're pretty well protected. Overall, I think @Dustball 's suggestion is best.

Here you go- one stop shop if you don't want to piecemeal it together. Of course, you could put together a cheaper solution if you shopped around for alternative parts.

Mount the box to your ROPS however you'd like then mount the light to the box. This allows you to use any light you'd prefer and allows easy replacement if the light or switch fails.

Good source for the DIY-er type-

I'm in automation and use Allen-Bradley 800F series components all the time but sourcing them can be difficult for those not in the industry.

That looks interesting Dustball. My lights are on the way and will see if I can add a on/off switch. If not this may be the way to go.

1st, see HOW( of ? ) you can open up the light !
Probably have to remove the bezel (lens) ((cover)) very carefully, then PCB with LEDs 'should' pop out. then you'll be able to see what space is available(if any...)

In my case I wired the LEDs to a 4 channel RF wireless relay box( $15), hung the keyfob on the cruise control level, made for a simple ,clean wiring job. For me keyfobe 'A' controls GDO, 'B,C,D' control 3 sets of LEDS(front, side, rear).

I received the leds but there was not enough room to fit an on/off switch into the housing. I returned them and purchased an opti-light rear work light with a built in switch. Haven't received it yet but will update and report on how it works.

Thanks for the suggestions....
