Needed a place to store my new Kubota M62 TLB and implements and the best solution I could come up with was a 40' High Cube Double Door Shipping container. Tractor fits....with just a little wiggle room but all seemed to work out to plan. Anyone else set themselves up like this? So I have 10 acres I'm getting ready to build on, it's just open desert, nothing too special but i like it. There is no improvements on this property so everything has to be done from scratch. The tractor and the shipping container where phase 1, shop and house prints are almost done and ready for permit submission. Here's some pics of the journey so far.
Built a 10' shelve in the shipping container to help fit all the implements. Was a fun project, check it out! I'll include some Tractor pics, implements, some custom implement pallets (exciting huh!?!?), maybe a doggy pic. My way of giving back a bit for the years that i've been sneaking around this site. This is my first tractor, first time running a tractor, lots of learning ahead of me, should be a fun journey. Limited to 10 files/pics it seems so here's a couple to start this off. Enjoy.

Here's a couple more pics to wet your whistles. Of course I backed into the new shipping container with my rig while helping the delivery truck/trailer get unstuck...dangit!

And a couple more of the storage container shelf setup. Can see the design/concept in my cartoony power point drawing. The shelf had to be built in pieces so it could be assembled inside the container to maximize width. The shelf uprights mostly fit into the side indentions of the corrugated steel sides. It's a tight fit but i think it turned out pretty good, fun to watch something go from plan to 'real life'.

Welcome to the Asylum.

That is a very nice rig you have there. I am jealous of that whole rig, but that backhoe is awesome!!

Looks like you will fit right in here.

(Love that bandsaw too (y) (y) )

Love the tractor. Don’t envy the climb getting on/off inside the shipping container. Knowing it’s only temporary helps motivate progress.
My tight fit for my M59 is around trees. Surprisingly easy ergonomic platform to navigate precisely. Couple of convex skidsteer mirrors helps seeing especially around people and dogs.

Just over a year ago, I picked out a "one trip" 40' highcube container for a friend ($5,200 delivered).
Then, I bought him (he paid) a M62 with 196 hours (leased by plumbing contractor)
He loves his M62!
Garage is done, and house is underway.
Beautiful spot on the shore of Chesapeake Bay!

It always amazes me the difference between South Idaho and North Idaho.
In the future put down cloth before you put down gravel if you want it to stay above ground for any length of time.

If you have the backhoe on when parking in the container, leave the hoe up until the rear tires are in the door and then lower. It will get a little light on the front end if you lower before going in.

Then, don't forget to lower once in!

It sure is, the 84" box blade and 84" fel bucket are both actually 85" wide...that leaves me with 3 1/2" on each side. It's tighter than I'd like but actually not too bad pulling in/backing out. It'll have to do for now as it's my only option for the time being.

Yeah, had to trial and error a few times to figure out what the best method for this was. A couple practice load/unloads and it's fairly straight forward now. Plenty of room in front of the FEL bucket and the shelf/implements.

Yep, Idaho is quite different northern side vs southern side. I like it all, grew very fond of the open desert stuff. The gravel pad is temporary so didn't want to put too much $$$ into it. I stripped all the topsoil off first, only about 4-6" of topsoil, then it's mostly clay. If the clay starts to pump up and gravel settle, i'll put 6"+ pit run on it. I don't like to use pit run as a temporary solution as it's very difficult to dig back out.

Yeah, she's a tight fit and I have to climb off the back down the outrigger steps to get out. I could back in and then climbing off the tractor and out around the front wheel would be easy but would still have to step over the FEL bucket. I really like the open cab for visibility but i'm sure a cab would be nice in the hostile elements. I like the idea of adding some more mirrors. I was thinking about adding a cheap onboard camera/monitor system for looking down on the FEL and one for the back just looking behind. Like one of the ones you can install on a vehicle for front/back video. If i come up with anything i'll post it.

This shipping container was a 'one trip' as well. It's pretty nice, hind-sight probably didn't need one this new (virtually brand new condition) but I didn't want to gamble with the more 'used' variety, i've seen some real trainwreck storage containers. I'll try to take care of it so it takes care of me and the orange stuff inside. I need to install a roof-top solar fan here in the next couple of weeks before it starts warming up too much. Add that to my to-do list.

Shipping container with shelve installed and a peak at the 2 pallets for the grapple and brush cutter (those pallets are ~265 lbs a piece!)

I love the efficiency of this project with its "judicious space usage".

Although I have to admit, there is no way in hell I could pull it off.

That would require that I 'put things away" and I am so bad at that.

I just know that "Murphy" would show up as soon as I put the last thing in.....because I would then need the thing in the front ASAP......As soon as that happened, I would probably pull out the torch and make a "new side entrance"....LOL :p

I keep seeing ads for 40 foot high cubes with side doors...seem to be unobtanium...my theory is those images are used as click bait to harvest emails and mobile numbers...
