Hello, I was using my B2630 this afternoon and it quit steering. The steering wheel freespins with no resistance and there is no movement of the tires/ steering cylinder……..even with the tires of the ground. The loader and rear arms still raise and lower. I loosened the hoses on the steering cylinder and there is no pressure there. Is the pump a split pump that one side services the steering only? Could the steering controller stop the pressure/fluid from reaching the steering cylinder? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If this coupling broke (upper pic #70) then the PS portion of the pump would not get power.
You need to crack the fitting loose (lower pic #20) on the pump to see if the pump is flowing fluid.
If it is flowing then the PS unit has something wrong with it.\
And that PS controller is not rebuildable.

Ok thank you, hopefully I can get a chance to go check this out sometime today (helping out with sick grandkids).

Hello again, I cracked the fitting loose and it started leaking fairly quickly but there was no real pressure. I loosened the fitting quite a bit and I finally had a sluggish stream (made no difference on the leak when I turned the steering wheel). Am I correct to assume that the leak created by loosening the fitting should have been high pressure? Thanks

Yea it should really flow out of it.
Sounds like you need to pull the pump apart and check it out.

There would not really be a LOT of pressure unless something was obstructing the flow. The fluid is just moving against the back pressure in the hydraulic lines until it is diverted into a cylinder by the valve.

The flow amount is in gallons per minute (probably get that from the internet or a smarter person). But probably above 3 GPM so you could measure the flow if you really need to. You can use a garden hose and a bucket to measure 3 gallons of flow per minute into the bucket to get a visual idea of how much that is in comparison to what you are seeing on the tractor.

Ok thank you very much, it was pretty sluggish, really hope I can zero in on the issue before I start throwing $ at parts!

Looks like the steering flow rate is 4.23 gpm, thinking I’m nowhere near that but really hard to say since the line was just loosened and not open. Think I’ll take the line completely loose and reinstall with just a thread or so and look at the flow again.

Ok looks like I have plenty of flow/pressure at the loosened line on top of the pump. I did discover that with the wheels off of the ground if I push down on the steering wheel I can get the wheels to turn a small amount. Does this mean my steering controller is bad?
