Hi All,

Looking to add a block heater to my 2011 L45 as we will see single digit temps in the next week or so. I have looked all over the internet for the port location for adding one and cannot for the life of me find it. Most notes say under or near the fuel pump on the right (passenger) side of the block. There are no larger ports on the block that I can find - I have looked from all angles. Is the port hidden behind something? My old B21 had the port in an easy to find place - not the case with this machine . . .

Diagrams or photos would definitely help if anyone has them. I would appreciate any help you have to share.

Thanks!

Dan

The block heater goes into a frost plug location.
Just find one that is accessible, usually second one back on the left side of the engine.

Hey Wolfman,

Thank you for the links and diagrams - you rock! Didn't think the freeze-out plug location was a place that Kubota would use. Yes, there are a couple accessible on both sides of the block. I will order the parts and change it out. 16 degrees out this morning and it started - big relief with the snowfall we got last night. I will be more prepared for the next storm . . .

Thanks again!

One FYI:
DO NOT DRILL the frost plug, just use a punch on a corner of the plug and it will spin and you can grab it and pull it out, there is not enough room behind the plug for it to fall in.

Hey All,

So I got a Kubota block heater kit which glues into the freeze plug location. As noted by Wolfman, the opening behind it is pretty restricted so I pulled another plug near the starter and it was exactly the same. I decided to add the threaded insert for the block heater in the forward freeze plug on the drivers side of the block. It glued in fine and the next day I mounted and sealed the block heater - all good. However - now I have an open freeze plug location and cannot seem to find a replacement plug. The Kubota dealership has none and there is one in NJ somewhere that could be shipped for a stupid amount of $$. I am looking for what appears to be a 33mm freeze plug if anyone knows where to get them. 1 1/4" is too small and 1 21/64" is too big. I have purchased a rubber expanding style plug but thinking this is a temporary measure until I can find the right one.

Sources anyone?

Thanks,

Dan
