It's not just gray, there are a whole slew of colors these days that seem to be inspired by baby poop colors. Baby poop yellow, diarrhea green, spew off white, etc..

I feel your pain. I was driving one of my LandCruisers thru some tall grass when it stopped abruptly and died. Turns out I had run over an old single box spring which wound around the rear driveshaft as tight as a drumhead. Being a spring, it was hardened wire, and a bitch to cut. Took hours...
