Which types of grease do you keep on hand?

I'm up to 3 so far.

@85Hokie for the win!!!!!!!!

I have a "butt load" of greases for some "specialty stuff" but if I was stranded on Gilligans Island and could only pick one grease to have on board the Minnow, it would be the above.

At work we use Certified Lab's Premalube NLGI #2. It has been a great grease in our fleet for the backhoes and excavators in a water utility. We have 3 maintenance shops and one of them would use whatever the parts store had in stock. They did a lot more wear based repairs until I had them switch to Premalube. When the rep comes in I pick up a few tubes through her for myself, but looks like it's available to buy without an account rep.

PREMALUBE™
MULTI-PURPOSE, HEAVY LOAD, EXTREME PRESSURE, HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE IN AN ALUMINUM COMPLEX BASE WITH MOLY AND GRAPHITE
NLGI #1, #2 & #3
NLGI #3:
Valve Maxx Heavy-Duty Aluminum Complex Grease specifically formulated for heavy equipment. Designed to handle the harsh enviroment of dirt, dust, mud, water, heavy loads and heat. Will save downtime, labor costs and parts replacment. Operating temperature from 0°F (-18°C) to 275°F (135°C) continuously, up to 400°F (204°C) intermittently.

NLGI #2: Heavy-Duty Aluminum Complex Grease specifically formulated for heavy equipment.

NLGI #1: Winter Grade version of Premalube. Designed for easier pumpability in colder temperatures. Operating temperature from -20°F (-29°C) To 275°F (135°C) continuously, up to 400°F (204°C) intermittently.

N.Y,
I have been using the Mystic JT6 for years. One gun with Red for most applications and one with multipurpose for mower spindles and pto u joints.

Sorry guys. I didn't word my question very well.

I'm looking through the Kubota Operator's Manuals on my tractor and implements to find all of the types of grease I need and so far I've found the 3 I listed above. I'll list them below again. I'm wondering if I missed any that are needed to maintain the equipment.

3 types of grease.

Multipurpose
Lithium based NLGI 2 (which may serve as multipurpose too)
Moly EP

If the Lithium based NLGI 2 is also considered a multipurpose grease then I can be down to 2 types from what I've found so far. Will it satisfy the multipurpose grease requirement?

Since the manuals call for a lithium based grease for most things but a molybdenum based EP grease for the front loader arms doesn't that mean I need at least 2 different types of grease?

Forgive me for asking so many questions but I'm trying to learn from you experts here.

Thanks.

EDIT: I misspoke. It says containing molybdenum disulfide not 'based'. It also should say Extreme Pressure like 'Moly EP'. Perhaps one grease will cover everything.

So a Lithium based grease containing Molybdenum disulfide and designated Extreme Pressure? Looks like one of the Lucas products covers that.

Thanks guys!

I'm not an expert but willing to learn... I (personally) just use EP Molly for everything. I do not recommend following in my foot steps. I've done my Trailer axle (highway speeds, 18 years), Finishing mower spindles (17 years), also for the loader and under belly zerks. No failures on anything but I do grease the snot out of everything.

If you don't grease, is where you will have problems... keep everything lubed up. Again about as far from an expert as I can be, just an old tired dude that uses way too much grease....

Stepping up on my soapbox; 10 hour lube for FEL is not just when you use it. Just driving down your driveway, your FEL is bouncing around and needs to be lubed every 10 hours on the clock. Stepping down, now....

I use the Lucas green heavy duty equipment grease for everything. It’s polyurea based and supposed to be compatible with all uses (roller pins and bearings). It doesn’t wash out easily, but it does cost a few bucks more per tube.
