My dad sent this to me yesterday. Last day of his hunt in WY he took a 5x5 at 60 yards (.300 wm)

As the guides were working on the animal a grizz came within 20 yards. Guide fired a shot to send it on it's way. The bear stopped and turned around again at 40 yards. Second guide sent another shot. The bear left after that one.

He said it all happened so fast that there was no time to be scared.

Nice Elk! Congrats to dad too. What's the cost on a guided hunt like that?

I don't know for certain but I believe he mentioned it being in the 5K range...guided/horseback/spike camp...maybe they charged more for the grizz encounter? :oops:

This was his 5th attempt for a bull elk.

So happy for your Dad.

I recall @Lil Foot having a picture of an adult Elk bull near his suburban property a few years ago drinking from a bucket.

They’re huge. Impressive.

Probably weighs as much or more than the steer that we get our beef from each year.
